The CMIA is a coalition of civil society organizations from six Amazonian countries — Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela — together with regional and international allies.

Its mission is to halt the advance of illegal mining in the Amazon through rigorous documentation, policy advocacy, evidence-based information sharing, and the strengthening of alliances with local and Indigenous communities.

The coalition works in a coordinated way to confront the threats posed by illegal mining: the destruction of fragile ecosystems, mercury pollution, human rights violations, corruption, and the expansion of organized crime across Amazonian territories.

At SOSOrinoco, we are proud to join this regional effort, convinced that protecting the Amazon and its Indigenous peoples is a global challenge that demands collective action.
