Outdated and destructive mining techniques in Las Claritas Mines and illegal mining is spreading uncontrolled, devastating the environment along the way and increasing malaria to epidemic numbers, toward World Heritage Site Canaima National Park and Imataca National Park. This region of Venezuela is one of the top ten most biodiverse places on Earth and yet the entire chain of command starting with @NicolasMaduro – @EjercitoFANB @rediguayana @vladimirpadrino #jesusMantillaOliveros @CeballosIchaso @JustoNogueraP, Alberto Bermudez Valderrey – enriching itself and smuggling the spoils via Aruba, where Maduro’s partner, ex Minister of Defense under Chavez, General Carlos Mata Figueroa @CarlosMataCMF has just been appointed Consul General.  These men will all have to respond to Crimes against Humanity, ecocide and ethnocide.

The purpose of SOSOrinoco is to shed light on the existing body of work regarding the situation in the Amazonia and Orinoquia regions of Venezuela, to raise awareness of the tragedy that is occurring and to outline some urgent measures that need to be taken in order to halt the unfolding human and environmental disaster.
